Played over four days at SuperSport Park Centurion, the T20 tournament will see four teams, namely the Quatro Cougars, Nashua Tshwane Phantoms, Vampires and Pirates compete for the converted title.
"I think the coaches and the players see it as the real kick-start to the season, so it is a massive event on our calendar," Pierre Joubert, the Titans Commercial Manager enthused.
"If you look at the calibre of players across the board, there is a very high standard of cricket being played. Last year, we had 61% of the players involved being first-class cricketers, playing alongside school-boy rookies who would relished the experience."
The mix of the squads, as well as the calibre of coaches is a further illustration of the depth of quality under the Titans Cricket umbrella. Two of the coaches of the four sides are former international cricketers, in Andre Nel (South Africa) and Kruger van Wyk (New Zealand), while Malan Morkel and Arno van Wyk are highly rated schoolboy coaches in the Tshwane area.
The Bash also sees Multiply Titans teammates crossing swords, which can lead to some interesting banter for the first few weeks of the season.
"That adds a new dynamic, as you will get an Albie Morkel playing against a Henry Davids, and whoever comes out on top has bragging rights during the season. It really is a feel-good event, that everyone loves being a part of,” said Joubert.
The event is a great advert for Titans Cricket, and it also presents an ideal opportunity for local business to get involved from a commercial perspective.
"That is obviously very important to us, and this event brings small to medium business closer, and shows them that it is not that costly to become a partner of the Titans."
"As a commercial property, the Bash has grown exponentially over the last seven seasons, and it is something that we are really proud of. We have some wonderful sponsors, and even small touches like the prizes that the Man of the Match gets show that it is an event of stature,” added Joubert.
The Titans Bash will be played from 5-8 September, with two matches per day, culminating with Finals Day on Saturday. There is free entry to see some of the finest cricketing
talent in the country, and it is a great day out for the whole family.
