The official sponsor, Gautrain, expressed their satisfaction and delight with the exposure and the five-star quality of the event.
Pierre Joubert, commercial manager of the Multiply Titans and one of the creators of the Momentum Outdoor+ concept, said they gained insight from the positive feedback by the participants.
“We plan to roll out the Gautrain Festival of Running under the banner of the Momentum Outdoor+ logo at other South African sporting stadia in the near future,” said Joubert.
More than 60 teams participated in the Corporate Relay, Schools Challenge and Celebrity Relay on the opening day on Friday.
The Super Moms Walk, which featured mothers with prams and toddlers, was a much talked about event with the Solo Relay and Team Challenge Relay also attracting healthy participation on Saturday.
“We have no doubt that this is destined to become an annual event. The participants will be our best marketers via word-of-mouth, as they enjoyed it immensely,” said Joubert.
“We believe that the Gautrain Festival of Running has the potential to be hosted at other cricketing events under the Momentum Outdoor+ banner and to lure sponsors as this is a fun event which underlines that cricket stadia have the facilities and capacity to be multi-purpose venues,” Joubert said.
“We had athletes from all walks of life and all demographics were represented. It was fun-filled and the grand prizes offered were also met with approval from the participants.”
Renée Jordaan, Chief Executive Officer of Game On Events Solutions, saluted the success of The Festival.
“The participants were full of praise for the organizational skills of the Multiply Titans and the host, SuperSport Park. The runners also applauded the concept. We believe this event will grow and its numbers will swell quickly.”
Jordaan added: “The purpose of utilising SuperSport Park as a multi-sport venue will no doubt be fulfilled. In fact, it is fast becoming a good business model and a best practice for all South African stadiums.”
“Multiply Titans are at the forefront of a new movement and are pioneering the use of cricket stadia for different sporting codes, which is enormously exciting.”
The excellent feedback from the sponsors and participants was a feather in the cap of the Titans’ organisers, who celebrated a successful season on the field.
